How long have you been in Beauty Therapy?

I have been in the industry for 11 years now! I started as an apprentice in a salon in Spalding and over 4 ½ years worked my way up to Senior Therapist. More recently, I spent time working in Yorkshire, an experience that truly ignited my passion for skincare. After 5 years in the salon, I was given the opportunity to step in as the manager while the owner was on maternity leave. I adored the salon, my clients and the team I worked with, but i realised it was time to come home and start my own venture!

How do you choose which products or techniques suit each client?

Beauty treatments are not a one-size-fits-all, what works wonders for one client might not be the right fit for another. When it comes to choosing what is right for you, I always carry out an in-depth consultation to determine the end goal. I look into things like your lifestyle, work, diet and hobbies. For example, if a client is struggling with breakouts, it can be more than just what is happening on the outside. Sometimes it can be internal with regards to hormones or diet. These considerations are applied to all of my treatments to ensure your needs are met and you are happy with the end result.

What treatments do you specialise in?

I offer a wide range of treatments but I would say my specialty is advanced facials (Microneedling, Dermaplaning and Chemical Peels). I have completed a lot of training with top brands in the industry such as Medik8, Environ and Million Dollar. Outside of work, I dedicate time to researching specific skin concerns and exploring how they can be effectively managed through tailored salon treatments and personalised homecare routines.

What are your most popular beauty treatments for brides before the wedding?

1. Nails – you can guarantee there will always be a photo of the brides hand somewhere and who wouldn’t want perfectly neat painted nails? I have done countless amounts of the classic French polish but in recent years have experienced clients having something more meaningful. For all the Harry Potter fans out there – yes, this is possible for wedding nails!

2. Lash Lift – the perfect treatment not just for the wedding day itself but also for the honeymoon as the treatment lasts 6-8 weeks. Strip lashes can still also be applied over the top if a bride is wanting something a little extra.

3. The most popular – Facials! Every bride wants to look glowing and feel confident in their own skin but also for their makeup to sit flawlessly. There are so many options for facials. I would recommend having a consultation so we can customise a treatment plan that suits you.

How far in advance should brides book their pre-wedding beauty treatments?

Book them as soon as possible! That way you can choose your dates to avoid disappointment.

One of my previous clients specifically booked her treatments one year in advance! I would also highly recommend trying to schedule specific appointments (Dermaplaning or spray tans) around makeup trials, as this can determine how someone’s skin may look on the day itself.

What type of facial do you recommend for glowing, photo-ready skin?

Over the years, there is always one facial that stands out to be the most popular and that is my personal favourite… Dermaplaning. Not only does it remove peach fuzz and 3-4 weeks’ worth of dead skin but makeup sits flawlessly, giving you a glow. I would recommend having this facial around 7-10 days before your wedding. This will allow any redness to settle and add moisture back into the skin. Most importantly, make sure to try this facial well before your wedding day rather than booking your very first treatment right before the big day. Every skin type reacts differently and not every treatment is the perfect fit for everyone!

If the skin does not suit Dermaplaning then I would recommend the Millon Dollar Miracle Mask. It’s designed to be carried out before any big event such as a wedding. It leaves the skin tighter, firmer and brighter.

Can facials or skin treatments help with any last-minute stress breakouts or dullness?

In my honest opinion if someone suffers with breakouts then sometimes a facial can help. It’s important to remember, skin can sometimes get worse before it gets better. That does not mean you cannot have a facial but I would allow 2 weeks before the wedding. My absolute go-to product though for last-minute stress breakouts is a product called Sebu-Spot Blemish Gel by Environ. It is a hero in a little bottle!

If the issue is dullness then I would recommend using hyaluronic acid serums. These absorb into the skin better than a rich moisturiser (which just sits on top of the skin) and can be combined with a facial treatment such as the Miracle Mask. However, all treatments are customised to you and I will always make sure a detailed treatment plan is in place for any of these last minute emergencies.

Do you recommend having a lash lift or extensions before the big day, if so, when?

This is all down to personal preference! In my opinion a lash lift gives the look of wearing mascara with zero maintenance. It also allows the option of strip lashes to be added to the final makeup look if needed while still being able to enjoy the lash lift for up to 6-8 weeks. If a bride was getting married on a Saturday I would recommend a lash lift at the start of the week as you need to allow 24 hours of the lashes not getting wet or applying other makeup products on the eyelid.

Lash extensions are still a great choice, but involve a little bit more care and maintenance. If you are considering having lash extensions I would recommend having them applied around 2 months before the wedding, so you can get used to the feeling of them. Also, the natural lashes shed on a cycle. Even for the most qualified practitioner, it’s impossible to know where a client is in their lash cycle, so if you were to have your first full set the week before the wedding, you could lose more than you expect (on average, we lose 1-5 natural lashes every day!). So to prevent this, it’s best to start earlier and reduce the risk of looking ‘gappy’ on the day. To get the best result, I would recommend having your final infill as close to the wedding day as possible (1-2 days before) if you can.

How long before the wedding should brides have their final treatments done?

For nail treatments, I would recommend 1-2 days before to avoid any scuffs or chips to keep them looking in top condition. However, if this is not possible, just refuse to do any chores before the wedding (sorry grooms, ha-ha!)

For waxing, I would recommend having this done any time in the week leading up to the wedding, to allow for any redness to settle down. If you are planning to have a spray tan make sure any waxing or shaving has been done 24 hours prior to any tanning products being applied.

The time frame for facials could vary for each individual client, but for advanced treatments such as dermaplaning or microneedling allow 7-10 days. For hydrating or calming facials allow 72 hours before the wedding.

Do you offer bespoke bridal beauty packages or group sessions for bridesmaids?

Yes! I have a range of packages, but these can also be tailored to suit anybody. When I designed the salon I wanted to create an environment that had space to accommodate multiple people or individuals for things like ‘the night before pamper party’, but also to allow brides and grooms the chance to come somewhere they can switch off for an hour or so before the big day arrives. I have a sofa in the treatment room but also a separate reception area directly outside of the treatment room so that everyone can be part of the experience.
