We asked Charley those all-important questions, from where she finds inspiration to her advice for couples wanting to create a wedding day that feels completely their own.
What should couples expect when booking A2D for their wedding?
Couples can expect a professional, friendly and stress-free experience from their first enquiry through to the wedding day itself. A2D Weddings & Events offer flexible ways to stay in touch, including WhatsApp voice notes and messaging through our client portal, while providing advice, guidance and reassurance throughout the planning journey.
Couples are also invited to an in-person wedding design appointment at our Lincolnshire studio. During this session, they will create mock-ups of table settings, venue and chair styling and stationery designs. This is often one of our couples’ favourite part of the process, as it allows them to see their ideas come to life and feel involved in every key decision, with the support and expertise of a professional stylist.
What advice would you give to couples who are starting to think about styling their wedding?
When couples first enquire with us, my advice is to begin thinking about the ceremony as it is one of the most photographed and emotionally significant parts of the wedding day. Choose styling and flowers that can later be repurposed for the wedding breakfast, helping you make the most of your budget.
I would also recommend giving careful thought to the top table; this could be flowers, candles or a combination of both.
As top tables can be quite long, a single central arrangement may feel lost. I love using bud vases filled with delicate flowers alongside candles in different styles and heights to create depth, warmth and visual interest.
My couples always receive honest, practical advice about where to invest their budget and how decor and flowers can be reused to achieve the greatest impact.
What inspired the concept and design for this styling?
Styled shoots are often intentionally extravagant and while the results can be beautiful, those settings are not always practical for a real wedding day. Couples may discover that charger plates do not fit alongside the venue’s tableware, large centrepieces leave too little room for food service, or real-flame candles are not permitted.
The purpose of the shoot images featured in this blog was to demonstrate that a wedding can feel luxurious and beautifully considered without being excessive. Thetford Farm Barn is already a stunning venue, so I followed my “less is more” approach and styled the space as I would style my own wedding, literally.
The vision was clean, elegant and romantic, combining glass decor, neutral fabrics, timeless stationery and subtle gold accents. Every decision balanced aesthetics with practicality. Table decor and flowers were kept refined and carefully positioned so caterers would have sufficient room to serve the meal without moving anything. Personalised menu cards were included to remind guests of their selections and help the catering team provide a smooth service.
We also used our highest-quality LED candles and tealights, which offered the beautiful flicker and ambience of candlelight from day into evening without concerns about venue restrictions or burn time. The look was completed with exquisite seasonal flowers sourced from a local Lincolnshire flower farm, adding a natural and locally inspired finishing touch.
This has been by far my favourite styled shoot.
Can this styling be adapted to suit the couple’s own colour palette, theme or personal style?
Yes, absolutely. The design can be adapted in so many ways. Even a simple change, such as introducing a different napkin colour or incorporating a meaningful message or photo into the stationery, can transform the overall look.
I particularly enjoy designing bespoke wedding stationery because it creates so many opportunities for personalisation. Couples might include illustrations or photographs of their pets on table numbers, add individual messages to place cards, or incorporate details connected to their relationship and shared experiences.
These personal touches are what make a wedding truly distinctive. The aim is not simply to create something beautiful, but to create a setting that feels completely authentic to the couple, which is where my passion for no two weddings being the same comes from.
